ABOUT THE PLAY

Arthur Miller's The Crucible is set in the Puritan village of Salem, Massachusetts, during the infamous Salem witch trials of 1692. This historical period provides the backdrop for a drama steeped in mass hysteria, paranoia and the destructive consequences of fear-driven power. The tightly-knit, theocratic society of Salem, where religious authority governs all aspects of life, becomes a pressure cooker for suspicion and accusation as residents scramble to protect themselves from perceived threats of witchcraft.

Miller wrote The Crucible in 1953 as an allegory for the McCarthy-era Red Scare, using the witch trials to explore how fear and mass hysteria can corrupt justice, divide communities and lead to the persecution of the innocent. The play delves into themes such as integrity, reputation and the destructive nature of unchecked authority. Ultimately, The Crucible is a timeless reflection on the dangers of moral absolutism and collective fear.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Good Evening and welcome to the premiere production of the Crismon Theater Company’s second year of exciting, wonderful entertainment produced and performed by your students of Crismon!

We begin the season with an outstanding production of Arthur Miller’s classic tale of hysteria and rumor, THE CRUCIBLE. A tale set in the times of the Salem witch trials, this story along with its subplots will leave you thinking about how the going down the rabbit hole of accusation, denials, rumors and hysteria from all of the aforementioned can cause emotion, betrayal and even tragic
results,

While this is a very hard play to produce, it is one of my personal favorites. While MIller was making a statement with this show in part about McCarthyism of the time in our government, much of what is related is still relevant today. These kids have worked so very very hard on this show and we all agree that in many ways have found it much more difficult and yet enjoyable than many musicals. So, with an open mind and an open heart, sit back and  travel with us back in time to Salem, Massachusetts and immerse yourselves into this story and these performers.!

Abigail-Carpenter.jpg
ABIGAIL CARPENTER

"Abigail Williams"

When I found out I got Abigail in our schools production of the crucible I was ecstatic! I remember heading into school, setting my bag down as fast as I could, and me and my friends running to the cast list. When I saw my name next to Abigail Williams, words couldn’t explain how excited I was. Abigail really is just an awful person and I love it! She really has been such a fun and complex character to perform as! This whole play has just been amazing to be a part of. My friends and fellow thespians have been doing such an amazing job! It has been so fun working with them all. And even though it is a more serious performance I have had just as much fun (if not more) acting in this amazing play!

Haley-Lewis.jpg
HALEY LEWIS

"Abigail Williams"

Hi hi! My name is Hayley and this is my second year in theater. I didn’t actually try out for Abigail and I’m proud to admit that, but I don’t think I can say that I’m not loving this role. Acting is one of my favorite things and I can’t say that more. My shoutouts are to my mother for doing EVERYTHING theater related for me, my family and my friends, but all in all for Mr. Thorn and the tech crew. These shows would be nothing without them. And now I’ll say for the last time, I’m not a witch!

Dylan-Glass.jpg
DYLAN COLE GLASS

"Deputy Governor Danforth"

Hi, my name is Dylan Glass. I am currently in the 8th grade. I play Deputy Governor Danforth (The big bad judge). I auditioned for this role because I am interested in pursuing a career in law, and I enjoy theater. I was glad to find a role associated with the law. I generally prefer acting in plays and have acted as a lead role in one other play, two musicals, and four home movies. The home movies were courtesy of my father whom has greatly helped and impacted my acting journey. I’d also like to thank my drama teacher and theater director Mr. Thorn who has also helped my acting. I’d also thank my friend Kile McKnight for helping me and supporting me, as well as my friend Greg who did neither of those things but supplied me with snacks.

Nathan-Prokop.jpg

Aaron is excited to step into the role of John Hale in The Crucible at Crismon High School. This production has been a transformative journey, challenging and pushing him as an actor. Aaron is grateful for the chance to work with such a talented cast and crew to bring this powerful story to the stage. His previous performances include memorable roles like Maurice in Beauty and the Beast and Weselton in Frozen Jr. The Musical, both at Crismon High School under the direction of Randall Thorn. Aaron also showcased his versatility as Rainbow Red in Rainbows vs. Bunnies: Annihilation, directed by Megan Perry at Newell Barney Junior High, and as the Steward in Into the Woods. He looks forward to continuing to grow as a performer and is thankful.

Jaxon-Crowley.jpg
JAXON CROWLEY

"Giles Corey"

Hi, I'm Jaxon Crowley. First of all, if no one knows me, I am an 8th grade Honors, A-grade student who loves Theater. The people who got me into Theater were my best friends, peers, and family. My first show was the musical Beauty and the Beast during the 2023-2024 year where I was the character Cogsworth. The thing that got me into Theater was that I could express myself through acting. In The Crucible play written by Arthur Miller, I play Giles Corey, an 83-year-old good Christian man. Even though I auditioned for Ezekiel Cheever, a clerk of the court. The reason I auditioned for the musical was that I wanted to continue acting at Crismon, so I tried out for it I love acting and my friends act as well so I wanted to hang with them.

Ryan-Barth.jpg
RYAN BARTH

"Mary Warren"

I am so happy to be a part of this production. I was in Frozen (my first ever show) last year and it has changed my life. Since then I have been in love with Theatre and realized that it is my passion. When I found out got this role, I was very excited because it is my first role with this many lines. I want to thank Mr. Thorn for being such an amazing teacher and helping us grow as actors I also want to thank my parents for driving me too and from rehearsal and always being willing my to run lines with me. I hope you all enjoy the show!

ZOË BELLE PIMENTEL

"Mary Warren"

Hi! My name is Zoë Belle. Some of you may remember me from last year’s production of Beauty and the Beast. Now, I am playing Mary Warren in The Crucible. I’m really glad you’ve come to this show so that we can show you our talent in acting with emotion. I personally love acting because it allows you to be dramatic and expressive while showing other people your talent as well. Well, I hope we do our best and you enjoy the show!

Blakely-White.jpg
BLAKELY WHITE

"Tituba"

Hello, my name is Blakley and I'm 13 years old. This is my first ever production (ever) so I was so very happy when I got the news that I'd get to portray Tituba! I play violin, flute and I’ve been dancing since I was 4-years old and this is my first year at Crismon. I've always looked up to my dad when it comes to the arts and I'd like to thank him for that. Both my parents are always my biggest supporters! I'd like to thank my family for being so flexible and understanding through the grueling process of putting together a production, the rehearsals, memorization, etc. I'd also like to thank my brother for helping me with those lines, I love you bro! Thank you to everyone who has helped me in the process, I'm putting in 110% for you!!

Brandon-Vasquez.jpg
BRANDON VASQUEZ

"Thomas Putnam"

Brandon Vasquez, playing Thomas Putnam in The Crucible, has been in theater for about 3 years and has been a part of the Crismon Theater Company for about a year now. He has participated in Crismon productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Frozen JR, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. The Crucible is a new and exciting step towards his acting journey, taking a more dark and serious tone, varying from the productions that he usually takes part in. He would like to thank his parents for pushing him to his best, and Mr. Thorn and the crew, for providing him with this amazing opportunity. He is also really excited to perform with his big brother, Adam, for the first time.

Hello! My name is Rowen and I’ve been on the stage for most of my life. From doing ballet performances since I was younger than 6 and now being in the wonderful stage production of The Crucible. I’ve always enjoyed being onstage and being a part of drama. My mom and dad have always been my biggest supporters, and I’d like to thank them for everything they’ve done to help me pursue my passion. I’d also like to thank Mr. Thorn for being a great teacher and director!! I auditioned for a role in The Crucible because I love learning about the Salem Witch Trials and I’m very passionate about what happened.

Adam-Vasquez.jpg
ADAM VASQUEZ

"Judge Hathorne"

After seeing my brother's performance in a different Crismon production, " A Midsummer's Night's Dream," I was encouraged to give theater a try. Although I was originally skeptical of the commitment, and a bit worried of how much fun participating in Crismon's theater program could even be, I can say now that I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the production of "The Crucible". I hope you guys enjoy it.

Zeek-Moran.jpg
MATIAS "ZEEK" MORAN

"Francis Nurse"

I have been in the theater production "Beauty and the Beast," in which I played the Prince and the Baker. I didn't originally audition for Francis Nurse, I was planning to be Ezekiel Cheever, but when I got Francis, I learned how much I really liked his character and was happy to be playing him. A big motivator to my theater participation is seeing my friends and being able to express certain feelings and actions in a way everyone can enjoy. I want to be in this production because I want to test and prove to myself that I could do more serious roles and to be less comical. My personal hobbies consist of drawing cartoons and playing video games, and being in clubs. I want to thank all my friends and family for pushing me into theater.

Star-Norris.jpg
STAR NORRIS

"Betty Parris"

Hello! I am Star Norris and I am excited to be Betty Parris in “The Crucible”  I am excited to be doing this performance because learning about the Salem Witch Trials has always been an interest of mine. I went into the audition not knowing much about The Crucible, but with an unwavering excitement because I’d further my knowledge of The Salem Witch Trials. It has been an incredibly long (but rewarding) experience to be a part of this production but I hope you enjoy the show! 👻

Maya-Zacreska.jpg
MAYA ZACRESKA

"Betty Parris"

My name is Maya Zacreska and I am currently thirteen years old, in eighth grade. I am honored to portray the character of Betty Parris in The Crucible as a part of the esteemed Crismon Theater Company. The rehearsal process has been a delightful experience, and collaborating with the talented cast has been truly inspiring. The ability to express a wide range of emotions through theater has been both enjoyable and motivating for me. In the past, I have had the privilege of performing as Queen Iduna in Crismon's Frozen Jr, Moth in Crismon's Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night's Dream, and as an ensemble member in Crismon's Beauty and the Beast. Apart from my theatrical pursuits, my hobbies include writing, reading, and listening to music.

BELLA BIALOWITZ

"Sarah Good"

Hello! I’m Bella, and I auditioned for the Crucible because first of all; I love theater — and second of all; I wanted to experience the darker side of acting and the difficulty of portraying it. My favorite thing to do in my free time is to sing. My mom said I would hum even before I could talk, and never stop singing the moment I could. Some of the roles I’ve played in the past are; (Ensemble in Frozen, Silly Girl in Beauty and the Beast, and Star-To-Be in the upcoming play of Annie!). Some other things I like are playing guitar, spending time with family, and spending time with God. Lastly, I’d like to thank my family for showing up and making time to come see me, even when it was super hard. They’ll always be my number one supporters.

GABRIELLA ZACRESKA

"Mrs. Ann Putnam"

My name is Gabriella Zacreska and the first performance I'll be in is The Crucible, where I'll be playing as Mrs. Ann Putman. The reason I wanted to be this role was because I wanted to give myself a medium role where I could put myself  in the characters pov, and was doable for a beginner like me. I decided to perform in this play because of shows that I viewed last year, which my sister was in. They all  fascinated me to the point that I wanted to try too. I wasn't actually expecting to get the character I auditioned for, but I'm glad I did. Some of my hobbies focusing on real life are watching shows, reading manga, and drawing the characters within them. My motivation to continue is discovering the many emotions I can show while acting.

I have also done church choir and guitar band gigs in my past, as well as Peter Pan Jr. which sparked a big interest for me.
